Catawba County Government is Hiring a Network Engineer Near Emergency Services Newton, NC

Catawba County is recruiting an experienced Network Engineer with extensive IT knowledge to work in a collaborative and productive team environment. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated and possess keen attention to detail. In the Network Engineer position, you will ensure the stability and integrity of IT Hardware and support end users’ hardware and software needs. Additionally, the candidate will understand TCP/IP protocols, wireless technologies, PCs, Printers, and software troubleshooting skills. 
 
In the Network Engineer position, you will ensure the stability and integrity of our IT system working with other IT staff to ensure a stable and working IT environment. This position will primarily work in the public safety areas such as 911 center, EMS and Sherriff’s office. This position will report to the IT Manager.
 
  •  Flexible scheduling options, including work from home, are available after one year of successful employment
  • Continuous learning environment involving multiple technologies
 
  • Provide timely and advanced level troubleshooting in technology which may include: PCs, Laptops, tablets, phone systems, cameras, wireless access points, and various other technology hardware.
  • Work with IT Infrastructure, support staff, application development, and outside vendors to ensure appropriate technology needs are met and the team understands the technology in use.
  • Communicate with the IT Infrastructure team and Administration to address needed infrastructure changes, updates, and enhancements 
  • Serve as IT On-Call support rotation for issues arising during nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field and one year of related work experience (Cisco, Microsoft, Networking); OR 
  • Associates degree in Information Technology or a related field and two years of related work experience (Cisco, Microsoft, Networking); OR
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and four years of related work experience (Cisco, Microsoft, Networking) 
 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record
  • Strong Customer service orientation
  • Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting experience and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and internet standards
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to lift to 30 pounds to lift/carry/install equipment.
