Job Shift: 8hr shift between hours of 7am-7pm

Description

Manage all programmatic, business/financial and staffing aspects of an early care and education center, in accordance with the agency’s program, financial and people management goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Management & Quality – 40%

  • Assess program quality; take steps to continuously improve our quality standards in program excellence.
  • Achieve and maintain accreditation (NAEYC or NAA)
  • Using Program of Excellence assessment tools, continuously set and achieve program improvement and development goals.
  • Insure that all decisions to improve program are consistent with Catalyst Family Inc.'s philosophy, mission, holiday philosophy and values.
  • Support all teaching staff by role-modeling quality interactions and activities planning based on child assessment and children’s interests.
  • Observe staff interactions with children, effectiveness of planned activities, maintenance and development of the learning environment and give staff immediate and useful feedback.
  • Using staff observations and program assessment tools, work with staff to develop and implement child growth plans and program improvement plans.
  • Ensure that staff schedules meet required adult to child ratios.
  • Using feedback from staff and the program directors, develop ones own professional growth plan. Commit to continuous improvement in knowledge of child development, curricular, and implementation of program skills.
  • Work with parents as our partners. Make authentic connections with families in our children’s best interest. Establish and maintain effective two-way communication systems.
  • Organize and support a parent advisory committee where parents can give useful feedback and have a voice in center operations.
  • Open center to parents for visitation and participation at all times. Maintain continuous ways for parents to contribute and feel a part of the program.
  • Make authentic connections to the local and school communities. Continually assess community needs, involve the community in planning and adjust program and services to meet community needs.
  • Ensure all center operations meet or exceed state licensing regulations (Title 22), Funding Terms and Conditions (state-funded programs), CCFP health and safety requirements, and other Catalyst Family Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Participate in local, regional and statewide advocacy efforts on behalf of children and families.

Financial Management – 30%

  • Develop and implement a profitable budget for the center by following budget guidelines.
  • Ensure full enrollment and attendance at the center; earn all ADE if applicable.
  • Take full responsibility for the successful financial performance of the center. Develop immediate corrective action plans as necessary to address underperformance.
  • Ensure full compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Protect and maintain control over all company assets and resources.
  • Implement effective billing, collections and reporting processes to ensure full, timely collection of all private and public monies owed.
  • Conduct all purchasing for the center and ensure that staffing levels and other expenses are managed prudently. Control all costs through prudent purchasing of materials and services and careful management of staffing ratios.
  • Identify ways to improve the financial performance of the center and take proactive actions to grow the business.

People & Performance Management – 30%

  • Act as a change agent to advocate, communicate and implement organizational changes in values, systems and processes.
  • Continuously assess and forecast staffing needs in consideration of business needs and changing environment. Implement effective job-matching techniques to create more full-time positions, and develop internal candidates for new positions.
  • Encourage all staff to act as recruiters, promote the employee referral program, and help recruit new staff through strong relationships with parents, schools and communities.
  • Screen, interview and hire best candidates to match the needs of the center.
  • Orient and integrate new staff into the team to achieve high staff retention.
  • Set and communicate clear job expectations. Ensure that individual and team goals are aligned with company goals, and hold people accountable to these goals and high performance expectations.
  • Manage staff performance proactively; coach, support and provide feedback to staff regularly so that they can deliver their best.
  • Facilitate staff retention, talent management and capacity building. Develop professional growth plans and provide opportunities for continuous growth and development.
  • Nurture team spirit in the center and maintain high staff morale.
  • Build workplace culture by communicating the mission and vision, modeling workplace values and promoting actions/behaviors consistent with these values.
  • Facilitate highly effective, participatory team meetings that foster ownership for expected outcomes.

Qualifications & Details


  • Will be working towards or have already achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in ECE/CD or related field.
  • Possess prior experience leading a team of child care professionals along with the ability to establish and maintain a budget and enrollment.
  • Strong background and demonstrated success with running high quality preschool and school-age programs.
  • Proficiency implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on the interests of children supported by foundations in child development theories such as Reggio Emilia and High Scope.
  • A proven history creating enriched environments, exciting curriculum and quality learning experiences.
  • Experience working collaboratively with others, while creating an enjoyable work environment.
  • Exemplifies excellent customer service by making authentic connections with our families, school, and community.
  • Must qualify for, or have obtained, a Site Supervisor Permit.
