As a Tax Manager in the U.S. Tax Planning & Technical group, you will be responsible for helping provide technical advice and U.S. tax planning and analysis related to Caterpillar’s subsidiaries. The position is part of a planning team that works with business partners within and outside of the Global Tax department in providing U.S. tax advice and solutions for complex projects and/or initiatives. The position also provides technical support, review, and mentorship to the U.S. Tax Research & Analysis compliance team. This position will have a strong understanding of U.S. federal and international tax principles, including Subpart F, mergers and acquisitions, and reorganizations. The role supports tax advice to business partners, analyzing and implementing planning strategies, and reviewing material U.S. federal and international compliance positions and computations. This position also analyzes and interprets new US tax laws and regulations, including an analysis of policy and company impacts. As part of this responsibility, the role reviews, interprets, and works with the U.S. Tax Reporting & Analysis group to model the US tax impacts of planning scenarios, including analysis of the interrelated impacts and complexities of US tax provisions. The candidate will lead or support projects involving complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions may require original approaches. The individual sponsors projects which may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. Requirements:: 4 years overall experience with experience in Big 4 public accounting and/or large multinational organization. 2 years of tax compliance experience in Federal and/or U.S. International compliance. Experience with U.S. International inclusions, particularly Subpart F, reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions. Experience with coordinating and carrying-out projects, including projects involving cross-functional teams. Skills Desired: US tax modeling, interest expense limitation, and GILTI. CPA, MST, or JD preferred but not required. Strong oral and written communicator both with tax professionals and other business groups. Collaborative and team-oriented personality with the ability to build and foster relationships throughout the organization. Understanding of interdependencies between U.S. tax provisions post-TCJA Demonstrate high levels of initiative and good judgment Additional Information: Domestic relocation is offered those who qualify.
