Job Summary: The Electrification & Advanced Power Solutions Division is looking for an engineer to support the development of Caterpillar Advanced Power control systems. In this role, you will design and develop control strategies to be implemented into software for Caterpillar advanced power products. Specific products include: battery vehicle charging systems, bi-directional inverters, microgrids, energy storage systems, and related controls/operational interfaces. This role will collaborate performance, design, and software teams along with validation and product support teams. In addition to technical collaboration this engineer will be responsible for the design and performance quality of control systems from development through production release. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Design power control systems for Caterpillar advanced power products. Meet quality and performance targets. Collaborate with supporting teams to develop an FMEA based validation plan. Collaborate with software and validation teams to release software for new and existing products Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field from an accredited curriculum plus 9 years of experience or a master’s degree in an in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field plus 6 years of experience or a doctorate degree plus 2 years of experience Experience with software simulation and development tools. Strong communication skills – Oral and written complemented by the ability to develop/deliver technical presentations Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments. Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills. Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
