The Opportunity The UK Emissions and Power Systems Regulatory Compliance team (EPRC) is part of a larger dept with accountability for interpreting, communicating and leading a strong position of global regulatory compliance. Working with enterprise regulatory experts, the team is responsible for providing focused regulatory guidance and conformance services to Caterpillar’s Power Systems business. The Role The UK EPRC Manager is recruiting for a Compliance Manager to lead the Product Compliance team. This engaging role connects with internal / external regulatory experts on technically complex product compliance matters, addresses product compliance risks, administers product compliance related regulatory obligations and leads the UK Product Compliance Team. For the right candidate this role will present opportunity / challenge in equal measures and will suit candidates with a background in product development. As Compliance Manager the successful candidate will support New Product and New Technology programs to ensure that relevant product regulations are met. The role includes managing a team that will identify applicable regulatory requirements and assess product/design solutions to ensure in-market compliance. This will include the development of governance processes, collaboration with engineers to assess designs and agreeing work plans with Program Managers. The Compliance Manager will provide coaching and development to the local team in the areas of product safety, substance compliance and product related standards. The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for safety, experience of people and project leadership, a broad range of technical knowledge and an ability to deliver actions and projects through Product Development teams. The Product Compliance Manager will: Have a detailed understanding of the product standards relating to diesel engines / powertrain systems across global markets. Work across Caterpillar to identify and agree product regulatory requirements. Manage a team of engineers to ensure that actions are delivered on time. Manage resources, priorities and recruitment. Own and develop processes that ensure products meet industry compliance standards. Provide coaching and training to team members. Required Skills Degree level education in an Engineering discipline or significant role relevant experience Self-directed and capable of handling multiple projects, with an ability to successfully lead parallel work streams to firm timing and quality targets. Strong commitment to product safety and quality with excellent communication / influencing skills at all levels. Technically competent in the understanding of powertrain systems and engines. Proven ability to build strategic working relationships, understand business constraints and resolve conflict through compromise and consensus building. Desirable skills Experience of either a supervisory role or mentoring and coaching others Experience of developing technical documentation that demonstrates product capability and compliance to standards. An ability to review regulations / product standards and provide guidance to engineers and other business functions. NB.
