In this role, you will guide and provide direction to the facility leadership who oversee an extended team of ~350 salaried and management employees charged with ensuring efficient factory operations that include fabrications/welding, machining, assembly, testing, paint, shipping/receiving, and maintenance. You will manage operations with an eye toward common objectives around People, Velocity, Quality and Cost (PVQC) with a high focus and priority on safety, lean, and compliance. The people at Caterpillar’s facility in Wamego, Kansas, located a short drive from, Manhattan, KS, take pride in working together to safely build quality attachments (Work Tools) that enhance the productivity and utility of Caterpillar machines, equipping them for a wide range of tasks and operating requirements. Along with other responsibilities, as the Facility Manager you can expect to: Develop your direct reports, creating an engaged facility wide workforce in the process. Act as the single point of contact or “ Face of the Facility”, representing the Caterpillar business to local and state authorities. Drive position facility wide change as a “Change Artist”. Engage with the community and promote the business and involvement in local businesses and charities. Collaborate with cross-functional leadership within the facility while being the final voice in the facility for the decision-making process. Develop and manage the business plan (with support teams) focused on cost reduction, period cost management, capital/expense planning and budget management, and employment plans to meet velocity and cost goals. Develop and execute the long-term business strategy for the facility. Ensure the manufacture of quality products at competitive prices and strive for continual improvement of operations to reduce costs and improve return on assets. To be successful in this role, you must bring (Basic Qualifications): A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or a related technical field, from an accredited college or university. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree. A minimum of 10 years manufacturing or engineering experience including experience establishing familiarity with Lean Manufacturing knowledge and experience, manufacturing facilities, equipment, and processes.
