Castle Group is Hiring a Lead Cook P/T Near Boca Raton, FL

Overview

The Lead Cook assists in the preparation and presentation of all food items as per Chef or Sous Chef's instructions. Lead Cook provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service as it relates to this function. This includes working interdepartmentally as well as with our external customers. 

Responsibilities

(May include some or all of the following as applicable) 

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of food and beverages to meet /set standards.
  • Delegate duties and tasks to kitchen staff to meet objectives and maximize resources.
  • Set and monitor quality and service standards for kitchen staff.
  • Communicate company policy, standards and procedures to staff.
  • Monitor cleanliness and hygiene of restaurant area.
  • Promote and practice compliance with fire, health, safety and hygiene standards and regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to stock control procedures.
  • Monitor and order supplies if requested by Sous Chef or Chef
  • Liaise with suppliers and sales representatives as needed.
  • Make certain all deliveries are checked in correctly and documentation is correct.
  • Check stock is correctly rotated and stored to reduce wastage.
  • Maintain regular communication with kitchen staff and management through meetings and discussions.
  • Stay current with relevant legislation regarding food service. 

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses:

High school diploma or equivalency required. College level courses in business or hospitality preferred. 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • One (1) to two (2) years of lead cook experience preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Effective written and verbal skills.

Additionally, the following are highly desirable: 

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of cost control procedures.
  • Judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Organizing, planning delegation skills.
  • High Attention to detail.
  • High level of stress tolerance.
  • Team member attitude.

Computer literacy:

Intermediate command of computer hardware/software is required.

Language requirements:

English fluency

Travel and availability requirements:

Ability to work extended hours and weekends if needed. 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. work in an upright standing or sitting position for long periods of time, will fluctuate day by day; must be able to stand up regularly or remain standing for long periods. Handle, grasp and lift objects and packages. Reach with hands and arms, communicate, receive and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word.

Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions and complete all required forms.

Working Conditions:

The majority of work will be completed indoors in a high temperature environment with little to moderate noise levels. Restaurant area is completely outdoors with no air conditioning.
