Casella Waste Systems is Hiring an Operations Supervisor Near Rochester, NY

Position Summary:

The Operations Supervisor oversees day to day operations of the container maintenance shop, provides direct leadership for technicians and welders, supervises the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment installed and used for daily operations, and ensures timely installation and upkeep of the company’s property and systems in order to establish operational effectiveness. This position will be responsible for scheduling and operational oversight of the container delivery line of business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates and supervises all maintenance work and repairs, and monitors progress and quality.
  • Reviews repairs and other maintenance requests and prepares work order documents.
  • Oversees drivers and helpers to ensure safety and operational goals are being met.
  • Oversees personnel including coaching, training, evaluating, employee performance, conducts disciplinary action as needed and provides input for improvement.
  • Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies and safety regulations.
  • Partners with the Operations Manager to implement tactical initiatives to drive functional excellence and goal achievement.
  • Organizes, schedules, and manages work crews for major equipment overhauls, replacement of equipment and special projects.
  • Manages and provides leadership to team members by effectively communicating, establishing clear goals and objectives, coaching team members on achieving goals, and ensuring access to training and development opportunities that assist employees in attaining the necessary skills to achieve team and corporate results.
  • Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales and services and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.
  • Ensures compliance with all company, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws regarding employment and employee safety.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a clean CDL or willingness to obtain one, an OSHA 10 or 30 card and be legally eligible to work in the US. An associate degree and 2-4 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications are required. An ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and an ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion is expected.
