Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington, as well as a Federally Qualified Health Center (Look-A-Like) that provides the LGBTQ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. CAP’s mission is to promote well-being and advance equity by providing inclusive health and wellness services for LGBTQ people, people affected by HIV, and all those seeking compassionate care. CAP is excited to announce that we are currently hiring a Director of Development. The Director of Development is a member of the Executive Leadership team and leads and executes the work of CAP’s development and volunteer team, within the Development & Community Engagement Department, in a manner consistent with the agency’s strategic plan, mission, and budget. The position is responsible for implementing agency fundraising strategies, including individual donors, corporate sponsors, and fundraising events. They employ various fundraising strategies to ensure a diverse funding base. The Director of Development oversees the volunteer program at CAP, recruiting, training, and placing community members in volunteer positions throughout the agency.

This individual will work at Davis St location. This is a full-time, exempt position which reports to Chief Development Officer. This position includes travel throughout the five-county service areas. Occasional evening and weekend work are required. This is a management, non-union status position.

COMPENSATION: $103,527, annually

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 6 years of professional experience in fundraising/development with at least three (3) of these years in a supervisory/management capacity
  • Experience forging relationships with donors, potential donors, representatives of foundations, and other organizations; with large public fundraising events; securing and maintaining sponsorships; and planned giving
  • Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
  • Must have sensitivity to, interest in and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, health equity, sexual practices, chemical dependency, and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community
  • Experience managing and coaching a team responsible for carrying out complex functions, under pressure with absolute deadlines
  • Willingness to embrace change and take on new challenges with a positive and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing justice, equity, and inclusion in workplace or community settings
  • Responsive with great follow-through skills and ability to build trust and maintain constructive relationships across organizational boundaries
  • Experience managing the creative process for collateral development for use in print and electronic media
  • Experience in creating, tracking, and adhering to budgets
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to engage and motivate staff, donors, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds
  • Skilled at prioritizing work projects, meeting deadlines
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends for events, donor meetings, and other department functions
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, with strong proficiency in database management. Knowledge of donor management systems required
  • Must have valid Oregon driver’s license and access reliable transportation

  • Certificate or degree in Fundraising Management
