CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties is Hiring an Advocate Supervisor Near Westminster, CO

Who we are CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties:  Is a trauma informed, human centered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide specially selected and trained community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the pursuit of safe and permanent homes. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteers help fight for a child’s right to be safe, ensure that they are treated with dignity, and assure their safe passage out of foster care. CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties recruits, trains, and supervises a diverse and inclusive community of volunteers who donate their time to be the voice of children who are in the court system.

CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties works with more than 300 CASA Volunteers annually, our volunteers work with more than 1,600 children who suffered abuse or neglected. These children are in dire need of a caring, committed advocate, CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties is continually identifying and recruiting more great community members to become CASA Volunteers. Child advocacy is our responsibility and our calling.

Who you are: You are a supportive, innovative, communicative, learning, teaching leader. You help CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties meet its overall objectives, the Advocate Supervisor connect with, sustains, and manages a caseload of CASA volunteers. Providing volunteer supervision and support, data management, and case-related assistance as the volunteers advocate for children with open abuse and neglect cases.

Hours: Full time, exempt paid position, hybrid work opportunity, headquartered out of the CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties Office located at 11860 Pecos Street, Westminster, CO 80234

Reports To: Program Director

What you do:

Volunteer Management

  • Lead and employ a volunteer-centered approach by providing an inclusive, strengths-based and proactive coaching approach for up to 40 CASA volunteers.
  • Facilitate the process to match a child/youth to a CASA volunteer.
  • Assist the CASA in understanding the CASA volunteer role and clearly articulate goals, best practices and barriers within CASA advocacy.
  • Collaborate with CASA staff to coach a CASA regarding case challenges, boundaries and code of conduct.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving challenges to the CASA’s advocacy work, including addressing feedback from community partners.
  • Ensure court reports are submitted timely, providing support, review, feedback, and guidance as needed and submit CASA’s court reports in accordance with program procedures.
  • Provide support and guidance to CASAs for court hearings and other community meetings as needed.
  • Gather information and support advocates in gaining knowledge of community resources.
  • Assist CASAs with initial assessments of cases assigned, and the setting of initial CASA goals and beginning intervention efforts. Provide monthly case reviews with each CASA through in-person meetings and/or phone consultations supporting ongoing efforts, you coach, review goals, interventions, and monthly progress on case efforts.
  • Support and train advocates; working from a spirit of collaboration, respect and customer service in their advocacy efforts with respect to the team working with children’s cases. Including children, parent’s attorneys, caretakers/caretaker programs, county program workers, school personnel, and service providers.
  • Gather information and support advocates in gaining knowledge of community resources available to children in foster care relevant to specific cases.
  • Support advocates in working with children and families in crisis and with trauma backgrounds. Become well versed in trauma informed services and approaches, to support and coach volunteers to work with children and other stakeholders through this lens. Mentor advocates through difficult case information and experiences that may lead to vicarious trauma.
  • Advise advocates in the defining and holding of clear boundaries with children, regarding children’s needs and expectations and the role of the CASA.
  • Support and guide CASAs with emotional maturity prior to and during court hearings and other community meetings as needed.
  • Gather feedback on CASA’s performance via meetings or phone contacts with placement (foster parent, group home) social workers, attorneys and other stakeholders to enhance coaching and training. Provide feedback to the CASA in a professional and motivating manner that supports their learning and engagement.

Electronic Case File Oversight

  • Ensures cases are updated accurately and timely our case management system.
  • Collaborate with CASA on setting of initial case goals and complete all documentation into electronic case management system timely.
  • Ensure CASAs are trained and supported on how to use electronic case management system and assist in troubleshooting when needs arise.
  • Ensure a monthly case review with each CASA to be updated on advocacy efforts on case goals. Ensure that CASA’s document monthly progress notes on advocacy work through Case Notes and Visitation Notes into electronic case management system.
  • Support CASAs in the timely writing of relevant court reports that support their facts and perspective of the case and in making recommendations to the court. Review, provide feedback and guidance as needed and submit CASA’s court reports in accordance with program procedures.

Other duties

  • You innovate; working with advocate supervisors in the pursuit of maintaining and optimizing a system of obtaining, entering, and utilizing court petitions and hearing notes.
  • Deliver tracking of metrics/deliverables for maintaining full caseload capacity of CASA and Peer Coordinators and children served.
  • Provide tracking of metrics/deliverables toward all program initiatives as required by grants or general program coordination.
  • Attend and actively participate in one-on-one supervisory meetings and team group supervisory meetings as scheduled.
  • Travel required on an as-needed basis, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Assists in screening, interviewing, and engaging prospective volunteers.
  • Aids the Program Director and Training Coordinator in coordinating in-service training opportunities.
  • Participates as a member of the staff team in developing strategies, implementing plans, and evaluating efforts.
  • Interprets the needs of the program and presents professional recommendations to the CEO and Program Director.
  • Accurately and effectively communicates personal progress and needs to the Program Director.
  • Devotes time to staff development and growth.
  • Creates and always supports a positive team and work environment.
  • You are an ambassador of CASA, and you exemplify CASA’s mission with excitement to the community in a professional manner.
  • You are a liaison to the Courts, Human Services departments, other local service agencies, Colorado CASA, and National CASA.
  • Other special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree welcomed.
  • Preference given to those with experience supervising volunteers/staff, working with non-profit organizations, or working with human services or the juvenile court system.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish welcomed.
  • Experience working in and/or with diverse communities.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Must be able to comprehend, discern and make appropriate judgements that are consistent with policy and culture.
  • Ability to take initiative in completing assigned projects with minimal supervision.
  • Skill in the use of email, Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and database entry and tracking.
  • Ability and willingness to perform local job-related travel.
  • Availability for flexible day, evening, and weekend work hours.
