POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Housekeeper creates a clean and orderly environment in resident rooms and common areas by performing day-to-day housekeeping activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility and as directed by department management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sweeps, scrubs, mops, and vacuums.
Dusts and polishes furniture and fittings.
Empties and cleans trash containers. Disposes of trash in a sanitary manner.
Cleans toilets, mirrors, tubs and showers.
Washes and wipes walls, ceilings and glass surfaces.
Make up beds and change linens as required.
Disinfects and deodorizes.
Tidies up rooms.
Sorts, washes, loads and unloads laundry.
Irons and presses clothing and linen.
Sorts, folds and puts away clean laundry.
Maintains all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge of housekeeping, sanitation, and practical laundry methods.
Housekeeping experience in a healthcare facility preferred.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to read and follow written instructions on labels for proper and safe use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
Ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language.
Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, physical, and TB test.
Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff in an effective, neutral and professional manner.
Ability to function as a member of the team in a multi-task environment.
Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing conditions.
