Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Health Information Management Director, medical records technicians are responsible for organizing and managing patients health information data. They ensure paperwork is properly filled out, verify accuracy and accessibility of files, and are responsible for keeping all files secure. Medical Records Technicians communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or to obtain additional information. They also must transfer the data from a doctors notes into a patients permanent medical record. The Medical Records Technician maintains electronic health records (EHR) databases and analyze electronic data.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: 1 year experience in handling medical records preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
Physical Requirements: This position required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Note: reasonable accommodations may be made available for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
