CARE HAWAII is Hiring a Mental Health Technician Near Pearl City, HI

Position Summary:

This member of the multidisciplinary clinical team has a responsibility to carry out rehabilitation and support functions such as running groups, providing therapy interventions, treatment planning, education, support, consultation to families, and provide crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of staff with professional degrees. Additional duties may include collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team, processing utilization, chart reviews, admission, continued stays and discharge paperwork and preparing reports.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's (BA) degree with a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in courses such as counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology, or other behavioral science AND one (1) years of specialized experience. An exception may be made for the above-mentioned educational requirements, on an individual case by case basis, if a candidate meets the following combination of required minimum education & experience: 1) HS diploma or GED or AA PLUS CSAC or 2) HS diploma or GED or AA PLUS either a) at least twelve (12) hours earned college credit hours in human services/social services subject OR b) at least forty (40) hours of continuing education in human/social services subject. The continuing education may consist of seminars, conference, adult education courses, certification coursework, employer training or similar education activities. 3) Required Experience: The equivalent of two (2) years full time work experience providing direct behavioral health services to sever & persistently mentally ill (SPMI) consumers & demonstrated working knowledge of cultural norms, values and issues related to cultural diversity in Hawaii and demonstrated working knowledge of the health/hum an services system and community resources of Hawaii. 4) Required References:Three verified professional references attesting to the individual' s skills, ability & competency to meet the position duties & responsibilities.

    • CPR
    • First Aid
    • CPI
  • Preferred Experience: Work experience with adults with severe and persistent mental illness, co-morbid medical conditions, including physical disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be a member of the clinical treatment team and participate in treatment planning for clients.
  • Participate in developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals and plans in conjunction with the treatment team.
  • Participate in comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis; physical/dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education/employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living; and family structure and relationships.
  • Act as a liaison and consult with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
  • Document client progress towards treatment goals and maintain a permanent record of client's daily activities according to established methods and procedures.
  • Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment plan review meetings.
  • Participate in facilitating treatment groups for clients.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and response to treatment.
  • Perform job coaching, problem solving, and support on and off the job site.
  • Provide assistance with nutritional education/food preparation, housing placement, money management skills, transportation options.
  • Provide support, advocacy and coordination of social, vocational and activities of daily living needs.
  • Responsibly reports to work on time/consistent attendance and follows program protocol when calling in sick and or for emergencies.
  • Communicates appropriately, effectively and respectfully with all staff and clients.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions for the clients.
  • Maintains a positive and enthusiastic attitude at work.
