CARE HAWAII is Hiring a Behavioral Specialist Near Honolulu, HI

Position Summary:

The primary duties of the Behavioral Specialist are working with persons with disabilities in assessment, individual planning, and training regarding behaviors. The duties shall include conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and/or the development of a Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) plans. The Behavioral Specialist may act as the clinical supervisor if working on an intensive case in which PAB III's are assigned to a participant. This member may work in collaboration with DOH Case Managers, a Clinical Supervisor, a Service Supervisor, a Dietician, and any other members of the participant's circle of support.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Master's Degree in the behavioral sciences, education, nursing, or therapeutic field from an accredited university or college with at least one (1) year of experience.
  • Minimum Field-of-Expertise: The experience shall include Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and/or the development of a Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) plans.
  • Required Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support: (current & renewed prior to expiration
    • CPR and First Aid
    • MANDT and/or CPI
    • PBS and Person Centered Planning
  • Preferred Experience: Work experience with adults or children with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and/or Positive Behavioral Plan, Individual Planning, and training regarding behaviors
  • Be a member of a Behavioral team conducting behavioral plan oversight of any level PAB's, Direct Care Staff and/or Crisis Direct Care Staff for a participant
  • Participate in developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals and PBS plans in conjunction with the circle of supports, the case management team and the participant
  • Participate in comprehensive assessments of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis; physical/dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education/employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living; and family structure and relationships
  • Acts as liaison and consults with community agencies, primary case managers and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process
  • Document participant progress and functioning in collaboration with other staff and community providers to maintain a permanent record of services to participants according to established methods and procedures during observations
  • Participate in and facilitate bi- monthly FBA supervisions regarding treatment planning review, and group feedback
  • Participate in facilitating treatment, behavior modification plans, nutritional education, and returning resident to original placement and/or working with DOH Case Manager in alternative housing placement
  • Provide Follow up post discharge
  • Provide support, advocacy and coordination of social, vocational and activities of daily living needs
  • Responsibly reports to work on time/consistent attendance and follows program protocol when calling in sick and or for emergencies
