Cardinal Logistics is Hiring a Part-Time Transportation Clerk Near Shelbyville, KY

Job Summary:

The Transportation Clerk is to provide administrative assistance to the transportation manager and team at the cost center. The Transportation Clerk will be an essential part of the workflow in the office to ensure that drivers and deliveries are handled efficiently.

 Essential Functions:

  • Composes and or prepares routine correspondence to include, outgoing e-mail, and faxes.
  • Verifies internal paperwork and reports for accuracy (example: trip sheets, invoices, and settlements)
  • Conducts research, compiles, and type up reports.
  • Compiles, prepares, and/or distributes internal and external paperwork (examples: dispatch sheets and paperwork for drivers)
  • Enters data from source documents into computer databases.
  • Updates information in computer databases as necessary.
  • Prepares and submits information to ensure appropriate processing by other departments within the company (examples include driver settlements or payroll for submission to the customer support center).
  • Answers telephone calls and provides appropriate customer service to caller.
  • Handles general administrative work such as copying, filing, and sorting paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three months to one year experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
