Job Description |
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Operate metal working equipment in compliance with the company operating procedure, including quality check points. Produce a variety of parts from blue prints and shop drawings to conform to specifications in a safe and efficient manner. Verify equipment is in working order, e.g.; tooling, safety mechanisms. Move and position raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipment. Remove rust, burrs, or sharp edges as required. Must be able to set up and operate all metal working equipment as listed above with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to perform dimensional inspections using equipment such as dial calipers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers and squares. Must possess a substantial understanding of machine programming language and codes as they pertain to the equipment being operated. Must have a good working knowledge on machine controls. Must be able to input, edit and maintain programs in files. Must be able to make necessary adjustments to equipment so as to maximize efficiency and minimize material usage. Responsible for sharing knowledge to help train others in proper machine set up and operation. Perform daily maintenance and cleaning. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School or Trade School graduate preferred. Machine operator background with 3-5 years of experience. Must be able to read and work from blue prints and shop drawings. Must be familiar with measuring tools, such as dial calipers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, height gauge and squares. Must be proficient in basic mathematical skills. Basic knowledge and understanding of PC's preferred. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and position themselves to operate and adjust tools and controls. The employee also needs to observe and inspect the work area for safe transport of products while maintaining communication and information exchanges with fellow employees. This is a physically demanding position requiring heavy lifting and carrying (50-100 lb.). The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of this position will require employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling heavy objects (50-100 lb.) to crouching, kneeling, bending and handling. Repetitive finger motions are also required. |
