Job Requisition #: 023365 Mechanical Engineer (Open) Job Description: The successful candidate will be based in Welcome, NC, and help modify and improve existing equipment and sub-components, refurbish, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment. Responsible for working with other Engineers, Project Managers, Machinists, Fabricators, and vendors to complete Capital projects and increase our plant's profitability and equipment reliability. Travel to multiple plant sites throughout the US. Key Responsibilities Hands-on ability to modify, enhance, or upgrade existing equipment, and read, create, and interpret CAD layouts, parts lists, and drawings. Understanding and ability to select pneumatic, hydraulic, and other powered components used in machinery. Excellent technical and operational knowledge of mechanical systems within manufacturing environments Capable of managing concurrent Capital Machinery Projects from inception thru startup: Including scope development, requirements specifications, schedule, estimating cost, and tracking budget and resources. Plans other technical activities relating to the projects to ensure safety, regulatory, and policy requirements are met. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently Ability to interact with the Electrical Engineering Group to refurbish existing machines to support the Greif IPG Group Ability to implement and test new products/machines to achieve desired features and specifications Interface effectively with internal and external customers to ensure project success Interface with all levels of the company and departments to ensure effective communications of new products/machinery for product development and continuing Engineering activities and support Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Strong organizational skills; attention to detail Working knowledge of computer systems and personal computers Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite applications – Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Performs other duties as assigned Education and Experience BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or similar. Advanced degree a plus. Project Management training or Certification a plus 5 years’ experience in an Industrial environment Knowledge and Skills Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, parts lists, and drawings using SolidWorks or Pro E mechanical and AutoCAD drawings. Design experience in 3D is a plus.
