Pastry Cook Assistant:

At the Capitol Hill Club, the Pastry Cook Assistant is responsible for preparing quality sweet products including cookies and brownies and to assist Pastry Cook on specialty desserts. Works under the direction of Pastry Cook and Executive Sous Chef.

Essential Function:

• Prepares all cookies and brownies and candies following recipes,
• Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, spices, etc. and advise Chef when items are needed.
• Tastes products
• Prioritizes and ensures kitchen cleanliness and sanitation.
• At the discretion of the Chef, areas of responsibilities are subject to change on a daily or long-term. basis to meet the needs of the team.

Skills:

• demonstrate skills in baking pastries
• ability to read and follow recipes and meet specified deadlines.
• ability to work in fast paced environment.
• Ability to stand on your feet for several hour.
• Able to use pastry equipment.

Pastry Cook Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, or similar preferred.
• Post-secondary vocational training at a culinary institution would be advantageous.
• 2 or more years of experience as a Pastry Assistant, Baker, or similar.
• Flexible working hours, including evenings and special events when required.
