The Position:

Cannabis & Glass is looking to add a knowledgeable Purchasing Specialist (PS) to our Spokane team. The Purchasing Specialist will work in our corporate headquarters located in Spokane Valley. The Purchasing Specialist will be solely responsible for selecting products to be rolled out in stores and overall menu health. The Specialist will work closely with the Director of Corporate Operations and Procurement Analyst(s) to ensure that the appropriate products are being purchased to maintain a full menu across all store locations. The Purchasing Specialist is also responsible for ensuring that there are an appropriate number of Daily Deal Items available for stores to roll out. The Purchasing Specialist is also in charge of all product re-pricing to ensure proper product sales velocity.

Essential Functions:

  • Merchandising and Product Selection 
    • Purchasing Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all stores are properly merchandised across all product types and subtypes. 
    • Purchasing Specialist is responsible for managing the product roll out process in our internal ERP system, Quick Base. 
      • The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for understanding current deals and specials that are running to ensure that products are not rolled out at an inappropriate time or price. 
  • Promotions and Discounting Analysis Recommendations
    • The Purchasing Specialist will ensure that all stores have a healthy queue of promotional items. 
    • The Purchasing Specialist will ensure that on Friday there are enough promotional items to last through the weekend. 
    • The Purchasing Specialist will assess current inventory and identify gluts using internally built tools. Glut’s will serve as one basis for choosing promotional items. 
    • The Purchasing Specialist will work with the Director to identify other potential promotional items.
  • Retail Pricing Analysis and Inventory Lifecycle Management
    • The Purchasing Specialist will drop prices of slow moving prices according to a recommended Price Drop Matrix. 
  • Troubleshooting ERP Tools
    • The Purchasing Specialist will troubleshoot issues with the roll out and price drop tools that he/she is given and work collaboratively with other corporate team members to solve bugs. The Purchasing Specialist does not need to be a QuickBase expert, but needs to feel comfortable communicating issues. 
  • Additional Purchasing Admin Responsibilities (when time permits)
    • Purchasing Specialist should conduct Purchase Order Verifications 
    • Purchasing Specialist should engage in vendor scouting. 
    • Purchasing Specialist should prepare and submit POs to vendors. 
    • Purchasing Specialist should accept and intake manifests. 
    • Purchasing Specialist should process RM products. 

Working Conditions:

  • Job duties will primarily include work indoors during all seasons.
  • Employees may be exposed to difficult or stressful vendor and/or customer situations requiring patience and professionalism to effectively handle.
  • Work duties may require sedentary activities, active standing, stooping and/or kneeling. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. 
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand at workstation for up to eight hours per day.
  • Must be able to proficiently operate computers, tablets and other productivity machinery and technology.
  • Must be able to reliably arrive at work on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Must be able to move about the corporate offices, as needed, to perform required functions.
  • Must be able to remain in a designated work area for up to eight hours per day with the exception of breaks as required by law.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate information and ideas so vendors and coworkers will understand. Must be able to convey and exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to continue to assist vendors and coworkers during and after stressful situations.
  • Must be able to accurately observe details at close range in order to recognize, identify, detect, determine and assess objects.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate information displayed on digital screens.
  • Must be able to perform other job duties as assigned.
  • Must have the ability to work onsite at corporate Spokane Valley location.
  • Must have the ability to work 40 hours per week.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must have a GED or high school diploma.
  • Must commit to coming to work sober. We love cannabis but we do not get high on the job.
  • Bachelor's degree in a business related field preferred.
  • Previous purchasing experience is strongly preferred; although we are open to experience from other industries as long as it's applicable to this role.
