PR and Marketing Coordinator

About the Position


The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for growing Canine Companions’ financial and volunteer support in the Seattle, WA area through individual, foundation and corporate gifts as well as special events. They will also oversee community outreach and engagement and stakeholder relationships. They will work closely with the Northwest Region Executive Director and development team to identify, develop, and solicit community, local and regional funding sources. The position supports regional fund-raising events and related projects, volunteer chapter activities, and has responsibility for soliciting gifts up to $100,000 with primary focus on gifts in the $5,000 to $25,000 range.

Fund Development:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement annual fundraising plan.
  • Identify and research current and potential individual donors, including new prospects and existing donors. 
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 35 qualified prospects in the $5,000 - $25,000 giving range.
  • Direct research to identify and cultivate new donors/supporters, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Coordinate with NWR Events Coordinator and liaison with regional fundraising event committees to support the oversight of the sponsorship and auction solicitation, as well as all logistical planning.
  • Build relationships and solicit gifts from current and new foundation donors.
  • Serve as principal liaison to select foundation representatives in the Seattle area.

Administration:

  • Develop resources to meet the anticipated income need of the regional budget and manage regional development expenses. 
  • Work closely with the regional development staff and report all regional development projects, newsletters, funding and related items.
  • Provide reports monthly or as directed by Executive Director on fundraising activities, major gifts, grants and special events, public relations, chapter activity, priority contracts and other funding efforts.
  • Stay abreast of philanthropic, economic, and social trends related to fundraising and Canine Companions advocacy initiatives.

Relationship Management:

  • Responsible for stewardship of donors in the Seattle, WA region to maintain and grow their giving.
  • Collaborate on external communications and visibility raising efforts as the organization develops greater regional awareness.
  • Perform public presentations at Canine Companions events and community meetings.
  • Maintain regular correspondence and networking with regional donors.

Event Management

  • In collaboration with the NWR Events Coordinator, help to plan, coordinate, organize and execute events in the Seattle area.
  • Ensure event and sponsorship communications are accurate and relevant to the Seattle, WA community.
  • Working with local volunteers and event chairs to implement, grow, and meet the participation and revenue goals for events.

Volunteer Support and Community Outreach

  • In collaboration with the NWR Volunteer Coordinator, support regional volunteer chapters and groups.
  • Collaborate with the NWR Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, screen, and train volunteers as needed.
  • Assist Puppy Program in recruiting puppy raisers.
  • Coordinate with Program to assist with puppy transportation needs.
  • Actively promotes and optimizes a strong flow of public presentations, awareness and partnerships.
  • Strengthens engagement between organization and volunteers, donors, and the community at large, deepening their affinity for the organization and activating them locally.

EXPERIENCE:

HAVE TO HAVES:

  • Minimum of five years of combined development leadership and fundraising experience in a non-profit environment
  • A proven record of success in meeting fundraising goals
  • Demonstrated prior success with face-to-face gift solicitations over $5,000
  • Proficient in donor database systems
  • Balance competing priorities, adhere to deadlines and be flexible to accommodate new projects
  • Perform several tasks concurrently, excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills; motivating public speaker
  • Bachelor’s Degree 

NICE TO HAVES:

  • CFRE License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • General office working conditions apply. The employee will work indoors and outdoors performing development management, training and administrative duties.

 
SCHEDULE: This is a temporary position of 9-12 months in duration. Frequent weekend and/or evening work is required. Local travel is required. (Estimate 25% travel.)

PAY: $85,000/ per year
