We have one immediate opening for an Applications Engineer at either of our locations inNew London, NHorTucson, AZ. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of working with limited supervision, strong communication and system level troubleshooting skills using electronic and RF components.

The Applications Engineer position will work closely with Canary client support personnel, engineering, and manufacturing to configure, deliver, and support standard products and custom electronic monitoring solutions for our customers. This position will also be responsible for researching and documenting the integration of new electronic monitoring solutions with Canary System’s software platform.

Responsibilities Include:

• Working closely with clients to understand their applications and evaluate components and technology options to provide design options
• Specifying and designing custom integrations including hardware selection, component testing, panel design and test, and creation of drawings
• Working with customers to install products and train them on typical usage, including creating operating documents
• Obtaining and learning how to install and use commercially available sensor devices in anticipation of customer request, building relationships with support staff at key suppliers
• Developing expertise in the use and application of Canary Systems existing hardware and software products to support field staff and provide guidance for future development
• Integrating new monitoring instrumentation with Canary Systems MLSuite software
• Campbell Scientific CRBasic programming (training will be provided)
• Traveling to client sites to support deployed instrumentation solutions (15% typically)

Expertise Required:

• Understanding of system design using sensors with various interfaces such as voltage, current, resistance and common communications protocols such as SDI-12, asynchronous serial, Ethernet
• Ability to debug electronic systems to find root cause using electrical tools such as DVMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers
• Experience using protocol analysis tools such as WireShark
• Understanding of the application of RF communication hardware used in Wi-Fi and sub-Gig systems
• Understanding of IP and standard protocols such as TCP and UDP
• Some background in programming using script languages, Python, or C
• Ability to develop internal scope of work documents and basic project budgets
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Applications Engineering or Support position
