JOB TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Mechanic
SHIFT: 80 Hours Bi-weekly, Primarily Days, Monday-Friday, required to take call
BENEFITS: This is a full time, benefit eligible position.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate.
2. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
3. Stationary engineer’s boiler license preferred.
4. Five (5) years’ experience in operating and maintaining high steam pressure boilers, absorption chiller, commercial heating and air conditioning equipment under a licensed engineer preferred.
JOB SUMMARY
Operates and maintains mechanical equipment to provide utility services and makes urgent minor repairs to other hospital equipment. Works on preventative maintenance and larger repairs, installations and modification jobs. Ensures that all mechanical equipment has all recommended service information available. Ensures all recommended changes are cleared through the Director of Facilities before proceeding.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Exemplifies good customer service.
2. Regular reliable attendance.
3. Ability to get along with others.
4. Demonstrates proficient use of email.
5. Follows safety precautions and adheres to all OSHA guidelines.
6. Follows Standard precautions in patient care areas.
7. Changes filters, cleans, oils and adjusts equipment per preventative maintenance orders, and completes required documentation.
8. Operates high-pressure boiler, absorption chiller, pumps, compressors, engine generators, water softeners and a variety of other equipment according to established procedures.
9. Checks and adjusts utility equipment for proper water level, water treatment, pressure, temperature, etc. and maintains documentation on daily P/M equipment log sheet.
10. Trains key personnel in maintaining and operating all mechanical equipment.
11. Performs and assists in major mechanical overhauls, installations, plumbing, refrigeration and pneumatic controls as needed.
12. Assists contract service and maintenance personnel, insuring that all work is done in a safe and professional manner.
13. Works as a team player with the maintenance mechanics as required.
14. Maintains and cleans all areas where work has been performed, replacing ceiling tile, electrical covers, etc.
15. Completes work in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with all state and federal codes.
16. Assists with mechanical systems adjustments and changes as needed.
17. Assists with minor electrical repairs and improvements as needed.
18. Performs similar and related duties as required.
