Calspan Corporation is Hiring a Software Administrator Near St. Paul, MN

Overview

The software administrator is responsible for supporting all of the critical design software used within a large, multidisciplinary engineering department. The administrator interfaces regularly with engineering and IT to properly maintain licenses, accessibility, training, and standards across multiple software platforms. This is an important and visible role that ensures the productivity and efficiency of the engineering department.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties in the operation, administration, support, and deployment of the engineering design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, PDM, Revit, ERP.
  • Responds to user inquiries on engineering software operations; troubleshoots and diagnoses system and user problems. Serves as first line of support for users, coordinating with IT, vendors, and other experts for issue resolution.
  • Manages licenses, annual renewals, and vendor negotiations on all engineering design software. Works closely with engineering to determine the right set of products necessary for each discipline.
  • Performs technical writing duties in the development and maintenance of engineering software training materials and procedural manuals.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering Drafting, or Computer Science,
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Familiarity with some or all of the following engineering software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, PDM, Revit, ERP.
  • Strong team player adept at collaborating and communicating with people at various skill levels.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to analyze and articulate technical problems.
  • Strong organizational skills; adept at prioritizing tasks ensuring that the most critical requirements are addressed first and at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Ability to investigate and learn new technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to provide training to others.
