Calspan Systems in Newport News, VA is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system. We are an engineering products based company with excellent prototype and low-rate production machining capability. We are seeking an Quality Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.
- Partner with Senior Technition to evaluate data and write inspection reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards and document other critical characteristics, processes and materials
- Inspect complex contoured surfaces using multi-axis coordinate measuring machine and associated computer software; accurately measures with hand held precision measuring tools
- Support with programming, set-up and verify inspection programs for multi-axis coordinate measuring machine
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with engineering staff to determine quality tolerance, specifications and reliability standards
- Deliberate with engineering staff to determine quality tolerance, specifications and reliability standards. Come up with mitigation strategies for failed components.
Qualifications
Preferred Education / Experience:
- Associates Degree;
- 5 years of related discipline; or
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Preferred Knowledge / Ability:
- Proficient with PC-DMIS programming system
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints/engineering drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and Quality Control procedure manuals
- Proficient with inspection equipment
- Valid drivers’ license with a clean driving record is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification
- Detailed knowledge of DOD-STD-100C and ANSI Y14.5M requirements
