We are seeking a dynamic Manger, Software Engineering to be responsible for group performance, software product design, analysis, and system support of equipment used in test cells, wind tunnels, and other aerospace ground test facilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage in alignment with our Company Values. Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culturethat embraces inclusion. Manage administrative responsibilities and assumefull responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
• Participate in managing engineering and design resources. Help with project team assignments andresponsibilities. Contribute to work forecasting and recommend project or group staffing adjustments tomaintain project milestone commitments. Interview and train new staff when needed. Provide performancereview input and assist in the performance appraisal process.
• Support design, and analysis of software solutions for controls and testing. Work with other managers anddepartment head to ensure the correct software product solution is being developed and delivered or identifying anddesigning new components or solutions. layouts. Document and present work in accordance with qualityrequirements.
• Perform onsite installations/support or backup team members who are unable to perform an installation. Interfacingface to face with the customers as Calspan ASE representative and demonstrating company’s software solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement and R&D initiatives. Be a teacher to your team and help identify skill gaps andrecommend training plans for improvement. Coach your team with a focus on individual career goals anddevelopment. Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvement plansfor leaner deliveries and improvecustomer experiences. Provide input and guidance to design teams on standard equipment designs and R&D efforts.
• Communicate regularly with the department leader and project management on statuses, issues, and developments.team on status, and issues. Individually resolving issues or assigning team members to do so while balancing effortsfor software solutions.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering,
• Related experience preferred or;
• A combination of education and experience equivalent to above.

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical ability with balance of project management skills and business acumen.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail with balance of synthesizing conceptual strategies in totactical action plans.
• Motivated self-starter with the demonstrated ability to lead in a team setting.
• Ability to make decisions and lead teams based on delegation and facilitation.
• Experience with design and implementation of controls, electronics, or data acquisition systems.
• Experience implementing software solutions in alpha language based syntax (i.e. C#, Python, C , GO, javascript)
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and leadership skills, demonstrated initiative and attention to completeness,accuracy and detail.
• Demonstrated ability to meet budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work effectively and productively as an individual contributor and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• 10% international and/or domestic travel
• US person with a valid passport
