Calspan Corporation is Hiring an Avionics Supervisor Near Niagara Falls, NY

Overview

Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspan’s Flight Research center is home to a fleet of experimental aircraft that include Learjets, Gulfstream G-III’s, and a Premier. Additionally, we support the VISTA X-62A at the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, CA. These aircraft are used to conduct a variety of experimental flight test programs for our private and government customers. We are looking for a motivated Supervisor, Avionics to join our team, continuing our rich, 75-year tradition of modifying and flying unique test aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Manage in alignment with our Company Values. Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culture that embraces inclusion. Create awareness in others of their abilities; involve others and share authority in planning and decision-making; challenge the Team and provide support by allowing them to take appropriate risks. Create an environment in which others feel ownership for results and feel comfortable taking action to achieve desired results. Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding performance with a commitment to motivate, train, and develop. Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
  • Perform avionics inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and project installations and modifications to commercial and flight aircraft.
  • Fabricate and/or modify electronic enclosures, panels, circuit boards and wire harnesses for various applications. Work quality shall be in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Support avionics business by efficiently operating equipment and ensuring accurate results and records. Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after tasks. Follow established quality assurance procedures with regard to all work performed.
  • Support resource planning activities to ensure that project deadlines are met and that the avionics staff has a clear understanding of the required tasks needed to meet project expectations.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors in related discipline
  • Previous experience managing complex FAA repair station avionics department
  • 5 years in related discipline or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Troubleshooting complex aircraft avionics problems
  • Electrical and electronic principles
  • Perform operations and execute moderately complex test procedures for engineering, scientific, or real-time data acquisition
  • Read and understand engineering plans and specifications
  • Read drawings and troubleshoot
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
