Position Description: Caliola develops a host of unique applications for Department of Defense (DoD) customers. This includes bringing our technology to market in multiple commercial and industrial applications, including the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). 

Caliola’s Embedded Linux Engineers (ELE) integrate various hardware and software platforms, creating custom Linux builds for selected components. They also lead the development of the test infrastructure that Caliola uses to verify and validate software builds. Our ELEs recently integrated our OverKey® VPN technology on top of mesh radios from TrellisWare and goTenna.

Caliola is looking for teammates that share a passion for the development of next-generation security solutions for defense and beyond.

Technical Responsibilities: 

  • Define requirements for integrating projects in different hardware and software environments. 

  • Define, implement, and integrate embedded software to support Caliola’s software on various platforms. 

  • Support laboratory testing in various hardware and software environments. 

What We Require: 

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. 

  • Experience in Red Hat or Debian-based Linux operating systems. 

  • Fluency in Python and/or C , as well as shell scripting. 

  • Experience integrating open-source hardware and software across multiple projects. 

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. Government. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. 

What We Value:

  • Understanding of VPN technology and Linux networking, including IPtables/nftables. 

  • Experience with the C Standard Template Library (STL) and Boost libraries. 

  • Experience with debugging and development on a constrained Linux device (e.g., Raspberry Pi or Arduino). 

  • Experience with modern API frameworks (e.g., fastAPI, Flask).
