Position Summary

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing and developing data pipelines and integrations. The position will understand the business needs current and future to help deliver and guide a data strategy around data pipelines.

This position is located at our corporate office in Kennesaw, GA. There is the option to work remote 1 or 2 days each week.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop ETL and ELT solutions leveraging various on-site and cloud resources
  • Lead technical direction for obtaining and implementing data pipeline and data technologies
  • Help evaluate current and future staffing needs
  • Document and define goals and standards for data pipeline integration and data models
  • Drive the creation of new standards and best practices as technology evolves as well as communicate and drive adoption across the company
  • Provide continuous operational support for data pipelines
  • Monitor and maintain uptime of data pipelines and integrations
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience is required
  • 5 years of experience in the curation of data pipelines and integrations is required
  • 3 years of experience working with cloud data technologies is required; AWS is preferred
  • Expertise with SQL, database design/structures, ETL/ELT design patterns, and datamart structures such as Star and Snowflake schemas is required
  • Deep understanding of data management and data governance best practices is required
  • Knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL Server is required
  • Deep understanding of query tuning and optimizing SQL is required
  • Proficient understanding of data pipeline, transformation, and modeling of data processes is required
  • Experience working with large datasets or database systems is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to effectively collaborate with business groups and internal IT resources
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
  • Must be able to understand and translate business objectives into actionable results
  • Experience in data lake patterns and process is a plus
  • Experience with SAP is a plus
  • Experience with Power BI, DOMO, Redshift, Fivetran, Glue, Pentaho and/or DMS is a plus
  • Ability to occasionally work on-call after normal working hours is required
  • Must not require sponsorship now or at any time in the future
