Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Workforce, Strategy and Innovation, the Director of Partnership Development is a key workforce development leader at Calbright College. This individual is responsible for advancing the College’s mission to assist adult learners in achieving positive labor market outcomes and requires someone who can interface with key industry decision-makers and lead value proposition discussions with prospective partners. This position leads the partnership engagement process including all the necessary steps required for establishment of partnership agreements and will facilitate and lead in-person and virtual presentations, attend conferences and travel to meet with employers in specific regions when appropriate. The Director of Partnership Development must be a self-starter and enjoy the start-up pace in the Government sector.
The Director of Partnership Development is responsible for developing and managing the relationships between Calbright and its workforce development partners. The Director will lead employer outreach initiatives and collaborate with industry partners (public and private sector), community-based organizations, philanthropy, intermediaries and governmental agencies to place Calbright learners in upwardly mobile jobs within California’s vast labor force.
The Partnership Development team works across multiple College departments to ensure that all negotiated partnership agreements are implemented as agreed, and that each employer partner engagement is successful. Additionally, the team is focused on building relationships in specific regions that lead to identifying, negotiating, and closing strategic partnerships with California’s leading mission aligned employers.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Partnership Development will work collaboratively to establish and implement a vision for how to best grow and develop our employer engagement initiatives and our partnership development process at Calbright College. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Manage relationships with partners in order to ensure that they are satisfied with the results of the collaboration
- Negotiate new partnerships with potential partners in order to establish mutually beneficial relationships
- Develop strategies to increase brand awareness and grow audience of prospective employers
- Evaluate the performance of existing partnerships in order to identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop and manage effective employer outreach campaigns
- Develop and implementing strategic plans that align with partner goals and objectives
- Establishing effective communication channels with partners in order to foster productive working relationships
- Collaborate with the Research & Development team to remain abreast of market trends and competitor activities in order to identify potential opportunities for new partnerships
- Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with key decision makers, directors of talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion leaders, and hiring teams at companies with aligned missions in specific regions.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the College to ensure a smooth onboarding process for our employers
- Travel involved within the State of California
- Assist the Vice President in the development of staffing priorities for assigned areas and build collaborative teams that enhance a college culture that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in a remote team setting

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR equivalent
- 5 years in partnership/business development experience in the private sector, public sector, government or a non-profit organization
- 5 years of increasingly responsible leadership and supervision that includes oversight of multiple functions, strategic planning, budget development, personnel management, team building, and program and partnership development
- Fund development or grant management experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in online learning, workforce development, and / or in an institution of public higher education or non-profit organization is ideal
- Startup organization experience
Working Conditions and Travel
- Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use digital communication tools as used by the college, and have the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
