About the opportunity:
C&I is an employee-owned, full service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients. We are currently seeking a full-time Buyer/Procurer in our Louisville, KY office to help us achieve our company mission. This person will be part of the Procurement team which is responsible for obtaining goods and services to ensure that our projects have the materials needed to be successful.

We are expanding and working on some of the largest and most complex projects in various industries such as Refining, Bourbon, Chemical, BioProducts… You name it! When we take on a project, it’s personal. We feel that even though we may only be responsible for a portion, in effect, it’s all “our” project. Responsibilities include: 

• Process Requisitions for equipment, researches products, clarifies specifications, documents competitive bidding, and input purchase orders.
• Negotiates favorable or required commercial terms and conditions into purchase orders.
• Assists in the preparation of effort hour estimates for potential or new projects and manage the execution of a project’s procurement scope of work.
• Follows up back orders, expedites delivery of orders, and makes special arrangements for delivery.
• Communicates to the filed the expected delivery date of orders.
• Monitors project schedules and expedites delivery of vendor data and equipment to support scheduled dates.
• Updates project team of potential delivery problems.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product information.
• Estimates value using knowledge of market price.
• Determines methods of procurement, such as direct purchase or competitive bid.
• Prepares purchase orders and bid requests.
• Reviews proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
• Maintains manual and computerized procurement documents.
• Places orders for products by utilizing a computer terminal or other order entry device.
• Searches out alternative vendors or suppliers as requested by project engineering personnel.

Minimum requirements:

• Four year Degree from a college or technical school and at least ten years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ten years of experience in procurement.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Understanding of engineering terminology.

Other Preferred Competencies:

• Proficient in providing strong customer service to clients and project teams.
• Must be able to communicate service to clients and project teams is essential.
• Must be able to communicate project information to necessary parties.
