Butterball, LLC is Hiring a Regional Sales Manager Near Remote, NC

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing brokers and assisting in developing and nurturing strategic customer relationships that help drive consistent and sustainable volume growth, while achieving assigned company profitability targets.

Essential Functions, Duties, & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all customers in assigned region through face-to-face meetings and phone conversations. Deliver top line sales volume and return on sales objective. Establish trust with various buyers.
  • Manage, lead, and motivate broker resources to achieve collaborative objectives/goals.
  • Research and develop creative sales presentations utilizing customer data, syndicated data, brand marketing data, etc. for use in customer meetings.
  • Identify opportunities and gain new distributions in accounts through store visits, meeting with brokers and meeting with customers.
  • Review account specific programs and pricing to ensure we remain competitive while maintaining Butterball, LLC’s desired volume and profit goals.
  • Obtain ad dates from customers. Estimate ad volume for Product Planners as accurately as possible to ensure orders are filled completely and distressed product is minimized.
  • Manage deductions and all Trade Programs
  • Schedule appointments to meet with various buyers/brokers. Follow up on these appointments.
  • Continuously update oneself on the status of the category and what our competition is doing.
  • Interact with Customer Service regarding orders and potential shortages/issues. Resolve customer problems and issues.
  • Work with Business Development partners to ensure pricing is consistent and will result in acceptable profit margins.
  • Complete and submit weekly sales reports and other various trackers.
  • Prepare for and discuss region recap for biweekly sales conference calls.
  • Submit and review monthly sales performance with customers and brokers to keep them informed on program progress.
  • Calculate quarterly accruals for certain customers and submit necessary paperwork for check requests.
  • Submit volume estimates (COB forms) for any and all new business, lost business and volume changes.
  • Quarterly sales review with all major customers.
  • Attend sales meeting and trade shows to keep abreast of changes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Must have excellent relationship management and follow up skills. It is imperative that the Sales Manager can deal with a wide array of people and personalities.
  • Incumbent should understand the entire sales cycle in addition to industry knowledge.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to recognize and fill customer opportunities. Must have knowledge of the products and the competition within a given category.
  • The Sales Manager must be able to interpret and understand syndicated data.
  • Ability to work/learn and understand the Blacksmith Trade Tool
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products, particularly PowerPoint, is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to travel overnight occasionally.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
  • Experience managing people is essential for managing broker relationships.
