Job Summary:

This position will provide the expertise and dedicated effort required to perform or oversee month end closing activities as well as the routine analysis and measurement of feed mill and meat bird operations for Carthage, MO Live Operations. 

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for oversight of Carthage, MO Live Op’s Accounting Functions including the Feed Mill, Meat Bird operations, and support departments.
• Responsible for all Carthage, MO closing activities for month-end and year-end including journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and final cost reports.
• Oversee Feed Mill accounting- weekly/monthly Feed Mill inventory reconciliation, weekly Gain/Loss Reports, A/P for purchased ingredients, Feed Transfers, Feed Manufacturing Cost Reports.
• Oversee Flock Accounting/ Support Transactions- Poult Placements, Brood and Finish Transfers, Settlements and Grower payments, Fuel & Grower advances, Warehouse charges, Housing Improvement Loans etc.
• Responsible for accurate & timely Weekly Variance Reporting, Quarterly Live Incentives, and Annual External/Internal audit requirements. 
• Responsible for completing the budget process for the Carthage, MO Feed Mill and supporting Meat Bird Departments as well as the overall Carthage Live Operating Plan.
• Responsible for Carthage Live Ops fixed asset accounting including capital expenditure requests, tracking of requests, and disposal of current assets.
• Supervise 2 Direct Accounting Staff involved with the Live Operations Accounting in Carthage, MO. Includes all supervisory roles including yearly performance reviews, pay adjustments, and all aspects of directing their workflow.
• Various other responsibilities involving Mtech and SAP as they relate to Live Cost Accounting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent computer skills particularly with Microsoft office. Experience with SAP preferred, Mtech experience a plus.
• Have the ability to calculate production.
• Experience with account structures, cost accounting, have knowledge of how inventory moves
• Ability to work well with others including supervising and coaching associates would be preferred.
• Motivated individual capable of motivating others (by example) with excellent work history.
• Will require some travel between Midwest locations.

Education & Experience: 

• Three to Five years of Accounting Experience with an emphasis on cost, in a manufacturing setting preferred
• Supervisory experience would be preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent preferred, but will consider equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
