Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Athletic Field/Turf Grass Maintenance Manager to join our team, dedicated to ensuring the optimal condition and performance of our athletic fields. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining safe, high-quality playing surfaces for various sports. This role involves a combination of turf grass management, field preparation, and equipment operation.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am - 4pm
Pay : $16.00-$23.00/hr DOE
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

401(k) - You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Responsibilities:

1. Field Preparation and Marking:
   • Prepare athletic fields for practices and events, ensuring a level and safe playing surface.
   • Mark and stripe fields according to sport-specific dimensions and regulations.
   • Collaborate with sports coordinators to meet specific requirements for different events.
2. Turf Maintenance:
   • Mow and maintain turf grass to the specified height for athletic activities.
   • Implement aeration and oversee thatch control to ensure turf health.
   • Apply fertilizers and nutrients to promote resilience and recovery.
3. Irrigation and Drainage:
   • Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to maintain optimal soil moisture.
   • Ensure proper drainage to prevent waterlogging and ensure consistent playing conditions.
   • Manage turf areas to recover quickly from heavy use and adverse weather.
4. Pest and Weed Control:
   • Implement pest management strategies to protect turf from insects and diseases.
   • Identify and control weeds using safe and effective methods.
   • Collaborate with specialists to address turf-related issues promptly.
5. Equipment Operation:
   • Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as turf rollers, topdressers, and aerators.
   • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
   • Report any equipment malfunctions and assist in repairs.
6. Safety Compliance:
   • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for athletic field maintenance.
   • Ensure the safe use of equipment and chemicals.
   • Participate in safety training sessions as required.
7. Record Keeping:
   • Maintain accurate records of field maintenance activities, including schedules and treatments.
   • Provide regular reports on field conditions and recommendations for improvement.
   • Collaborate with the management team to develop long-term field maintenance plans.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in athletic field or turf grass maintenance.
• Knowledge of sports field construction, turf varieties, and athletic field specifications.
• Ability to operate and maintain specialized turf equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet sport-specific field requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with sports program coordinators.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Education and Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in turf grass management or sports turf management is preferred.
