PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of warehouse-related equipment
(i.e. material handling equipment, Refrigeration/HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc). This keeps day and night
warehouse operations functional to ensure efficient shipping and receiving of product. This position requires
being on call on a rotation with other Maintenance Mechanics, requiring responding to mechanical breakdown
and emergencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to and performs work in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
Inspects machinery and observes operation to detect cause of malfunction.
Disassemble machines and select replacement parts.
Refurbish equipment - tear down, inspect, repair, clean and paint.
Communicate in person with vendors, staff, managers and others, providing information on, repair
times, etc.
Perform research to inquiries as necessary.
Practice good housekeeping, i.e. keeping work areas clean and hazard-free.
Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (i.e. pallet jacks, reach truck,
forklifts, etc.) to insure that adequate machinery is available for day and night warehouse operations.
Review any equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, and
maintains a repair log.
Comply with guidelines regarding safety when working on equipment (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding
and required documentation, safe work environment, etc.)
Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries and other equipment contained therein.
Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance of job duties, including
inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area.
If authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required
duties.
Troubleshoot and repair facilities refrigeration equipment. Identify problems requiring outside vendors
and inform supervision/management.
Perform general and preventive maintenance including daily systems inspections of mechanical and
electrical components throughout the facility.
Record refrigerating system readings daily
Work closely with the contracted maintenance provider for the on-going maintenance program of all
aspects of the refrigeration systems.
Monitor, document and report the usage and replacement of equipment and parts.
Ensure that work is done promptly and efficiently.
Keep and maintain parts department inventory levels.
Ensure that all parts and supplies are charged out to the proper repair order.
Comply with all OSHA, HAZMAT, EPA, FDA, USDA regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED required; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred.
A minimum of six months previous mechanic experience required; basic knowledge of industrial
electricity required.
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must meet minimum requirements on pre-employment testing, including physical ability tests.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds continually during shift.
Ability to consistently meet minimum production standards and company service levels.
Sufficient vision and hearing necessary to operate powered equipment safely.
Basic ability to read, speak, and comprehend the English language
