Position Overview

Leverage your knowledge and industry experience and join our team in the Senior Project Manager (Sr. PM) role. The Sr. PM will manage large-scale, enterprise IT projects as well as support and mentor the business units in project management and project process. They will work with the CIO, IT Directors and business owners to initiate, manage and complete projects. Additionally, the Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for overall project schedules, vendor management where needed and communication of the project status to key stakeholders. Because the success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve, this remote role will allow you to do your best work from your home office, collaborating virtually with your team daily. You will travel to our Raleigh office for meetings and company events several times a year or as needed.

 Your WORK as the Senior Project Manager will make a difference as you:

  • Manage multiple business critical and IT projects of varying size simultaneously
  • Develop project scope, schedules, projects plans and budgets using tools such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office products
  • Lead and execute multiple projects with tight deadlines to on-time and on-budget deliveries
  • Develop communication plans and communications to projects teams, stakeholders and sponsors
  • Schedule and conduct project team meetings for all ongoing projects and manage all change requests and requirements related to the project
  • Provide project leadership to project team members and across IT organization, and mentor and review Project Managers or Senior Project Managers as needed
  • Plan, schedule and facilitate reviews/status of key software project lifecycle milestones with all levels, for all projects – from project team members to executives
  • Anticipate resistance, welcome constructive conflict, and influence solutions through the project lifecycle
  • Motivate and energize team members and the business community with the Project Management vision
  • Ensure that Project Management tools and methodologies are appropriately applied while keeping ahead of technology or industry trends that could improve operations; maintaining flexibility in the application of tools and methodologies based upon the complexity of the project
  • Oversee and maintain liaison between all parties concerned with the project to facilitate any changes or modifications and to facilitate resolution of project problems including vendors

 SKILLS to get the JOB done RIGHT:

  • BA/BS degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; insurance industry experience considered a plus
  • Must currently hold Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Strong familiarity with the software development lifecycle practices and project methodologies
  • Several years of experience with MS Project or MS Project Server and all MS Office applications
  • Proven skills in vendor management, coaching and mentorship, and verbal and written communication
  • Excellent attitude and ability to work with all levels of business and IT Management
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to vendor and related conferences
