Description
Our client's state-of-the-art Schenectady-based materials testing laboratory is currently seeking a full-time employee for its machining operations. A successful candidate will demonstrate a machining background, mechanical dexterity, communication skills, organizational skills and have a positive attitude. This is a unique career opportunity for those who desire hands-on work and using a variety of machining technologies. The position is for first shift in a climate-controlled shop. Essential Duties:
  • View drawings and blueprints to understand what dimensions the materials need to be cut or shaped.
  • Think creatively to determine the most effective and efficient way to cut the material into the desired shape and size.
  • Select the proper materials and tools to get the job done, such as calipers, drills, and mills.
  • Set up and program the cutting machines to make the part, using CAD and CNC software.
  • Inspect finished product to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • US Citizenship required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certificate, diploma, or journeyman in machining
  • Mill, Lathe, Wire EDM, Waterjet, grinding preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined individuals preferred.
  • CNC operation/programming experience preferred. Experience with Fanuc / Haas controls preferred.
  • Bobcat or other CAM experience preferred.
  • Experience working with and understanding blueprints preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of M and G codes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in a physical environment.
Salary Description

$18 - $26 per hour
