SUMMARY

The Monitor Technician I is responsible for the continual monitoring of cardiac rhythms of electrocardiographic central station monitors and remote telemetry patients monitors.The Monitor Technician I accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and reports any changes of the cardiac rhythm to the appropriate nurse.Maintains and orders telemetry supplies and equipment as needed on the assigned unit.

*Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

*Performs, communicates and documents cardiac rhythm interpretation and documents dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation.

*Provides direct observation of telemetry monitors; distributes monitors to staff for unit/remote monitoring; and maintains monitoring equipment as needed.

*Records and prints routine strips for the medical record; maintains documentation of routine strips and any changes in rhythm and rate.

*Maintains documentation regarding admissions, transfers, and dismissals of all patients on telemetry monitors.

*Maintains and orders telemetry supplies and equipment as needed on the assigned unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalency required.Successful completion of an ECG monitoring class required and/or competency validation.Prior telemetry monitoring experience in a medical facility preferred. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
