Brunson Instrument Company is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer Near Kansas City, MO

Overview

OMNI is honored to be retained by Kansas City-based Brunson Instrument Company in their search for a Chief Financial Officer. This highly responsible management position oversees the financial performance of all Brunson business activities.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the President, the CFO will plan, organize, coordinate and perform comprehensive financial activities of the organization, including:

  • Preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Formulates policies to support internal controls and the safeguarding of assets.
  • Responsible for accurate financial reporting monthly.
  • Responsible for all treasury functions including debt management, cash flow and investments.
  • Initiates recommendations regarding profit improvement plans.
  • Responsible for Administration including risk management, interface with Human Resources on medical and other benefit plans, etc.
  • Serves as Plan Administrator of the 401(k) and ESOP. Responsible for negotiating with medical insurance vendors.
  • Applies analytical skills to evaluate and solve business problems and the evaluation of alternatives as pertaining to both the Corporation and the ownership estate.
  • Interprets the trends, opportunities, and business results to the financial community (banking, accounting firms, etc.)
  • Acts as legal liaison with respect to contracts, trademarks, patents, etc.
  • Evaluates and qualifies, both financially and strategically, business opportunities, such as acquisitions, divestitures, ad other significant investments as required.
  • Participates in new product development efforts. Assists in the preparation and interpretation of business plans including calculations necessary to evaluate payback and returns on investment. Responsible for measurement of results against plan.
  • Serves as an officer of the company in the role of Treasurer and Secretary.
  • Supervises the IT function.
  • Collaborates with all other departments to achieve strategic objectives. Provide managers with meaningful data to enhance their performance against objectives. Analyzes departmental efficiencies, challenge status quo, and proposes new methods, initiatives, or technologies for improvement.
  • Assists sales department with forecasting, compensation plans, resource planning.
  • Promotes a positive work environment and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or a related field and 5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA preferred, CMA, CFA beneficial.
  • Experience working with lean accounting and/or in the manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Self-directed and detail oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to articulate the meaning of financial information and related analyses both internally and externally.
  • Proven leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong team building and project management skills.
  • Excellent skills in math, accounting, and analytics. Must be able to apply these skills to problem solving at all levels of the organization.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP Systems; experience with the EPICOR ERP system a plus.
  • This position will work on-site.
