Summary:

Under the direction of the Quality and Safety Manager, the Quality Control (QC) Lab Technician plays a critical supporting role for QA engineers, QC lab operations, and manufacturing operations to minimize risk to the health and safety of everyone at the facility, to the environment, and to the quality of the material manufactured at the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct precise and accurate routine analytical testing on incoming raw materials, in-process control samples, and final product material following a wide range of established standard procedures and involving both the use of traditional labratory techniques and the use of a wide variety of analytical instrumentation (including, but not limited to, cryogenic, metallographic, and microscopy processes, intrumentation, and tools).
  • Compare analytical test results against established standards to ensure proper quality controls are upheld and promptly enter data into the appropriate computer systems and, where necessary, communicate this data to the appropriate Production, Quality Assurance, and Research and Development personnel.
  • Maintain a high standard of laboratory operating conditions regarding equipment, validity of calibration standards, housekeeping (7S), analytical records, etc. by adhering to established standards.
  • Assist in updates to procedures or practices within the manufacturing and QC test process.
  • Ensure compliance to all Environmental, Health and Safety policies, laws, and regulations as they apply to laboratory function and operation.
  • Support and champion the Bruker core values of safety, innovation, continuous improvement, and organizational excellence.
  • Support in safety management system activities, as assigned.
  • Support in quality management system activities, as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Safety first attitude by following safety rules at all times.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Certificate or training in quality assurance is a plus.
  • Certificate or training in safety programs is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality assurance.
  • Willingness to work with cryogenic liquids.
  • Ability to use hand tools, both electrical and manual, in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and technologically curious.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and in fast-pace manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds and communicate with them in a professional manner.
  • Prior knowledge of and experience with the operation of office machines/PCs.
  • Demonstrated organizational, written, interpersonal and communication skills.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Typical manufacturing environment with machinery and QC lab with high-field magnet, cryogens, and chemicals. Noise in the environment is usually moderate.
