Job Summary
Under general supervision of Practice Operation Supervisor and the Clinical Team, the Floater Medical Assistant I provides care
to patients as a member of the care delivery team; keeps the medical practice running efficiently by performing administrative
and clinical functions within patient flow aligned within established Practice Management Guidelines. This role is fast paced and
works within a paperless environment, Responsibilities include taking vitals, rooming patients, cleaning rooms, assisting
with procedures, while focused on providing patients with excellent medical care within multiple facilities. The
Floater Medical Assistant I will step in as additional MA support at various BTHealth Clinics.
Qualifications
Required Education:High School Diploma or GED, Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program
Preferred Education: N/A
Minimum Experience:1-2 years of healthcare experience in a clinic or hospital
Required Licensure / Certification:
Preferred Licensure / Certification: Certified Medical Assistant
Travel Requirements:Ability to travel to BTHealth sites as needed
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for greeting patients into exam room areas and driving a positive patient customer service experience
Rooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs including height, weight, BMI, temperature, respirations and blood
pressure Collects and documents patient history and current state of health
Disinfects and prepares treatment rooms, equipment and supplies in a timely manner to ensure optimum flow
Provides patient education and follow-up care instructions; plans and schedules diagnostic tests, process authorizations
and referrals, as appropriate.
Performs panel management and non-visit tasks as assigned by Provider or Supervisor
Works closely with providers to provide high quality care to each patient by addressing their health needs and concerns
Performs various medical assistant procedures, including but not limited to EKGs, finger sticks for hemoglobin checks;
ear lavages; nebulizer treatments; urine dipsticks; specimen collection for throat and/or urine cultures; wound cleaning;
PPD placement; INR; glucose; HCG; and Hemoglobin A1C.Performs routine screening procedures, such as hearing and
vision test and document findings, Administers injectable immunizations and documents in electronic health record
Ensures that all logs, forms, records and charts are complete, thorough and accurate.
Scan medical documents, test results, forms, and insurance information; file and process tasks related to new
documents.
Support correspondences including calls, mail, deliveries, faxes, tasks, prescription requests, emails, and patient portal
requests; direct appropriately when needed; communicate messages accurately and in a timely manner; process forms
and letters as needed.
Maintain medication records, administer medication upon physician order and process medication orders as requested.
Practices standard safety precautions to ensure safety to self, other staff and patients, including handling of contained
waste and sharps, and cleaning and disinfecting medical equipment after use, proper use of PPEs.
Communicates clearly with providers, other staff and patients to promote optimum clinic flow and proper patient hand
off; communicates with Practice Operation Supervisor on urgent issues.
Proactively helps teammates during down time.
Recommends improvement in processes and practices through the proper channels.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of guidelines for proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
Computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite, strong data entry skills; electronic health record system required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail required.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
