Brown & Toland Physicians is Hiring a Data Analyst II Near Oakland, CA

The Analyst supports enterprise data analytics needs including and not limited to utilization and care management, clinical quality, population health and financial performance, by gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to the Brown and Toland team and its collaborating partners. Under the guidance and direction of Lead Analyst, manager analysts may focus on reporting and visualization, or analytical consultation and modeling using healthcare best practices and benchmarks. The Analyst supports enterprise data analytics needs including and not limited to utilization and care management, clinical quality, population health and financial performance, by gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to the Brown and Toland team and its collaborating partners. Under the guidance and direction of Lead Analyst, manager analysts may focus on reporting and visualization, or analytical consultation and modeling using healthcare best practices and benchmarks.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide insightful utilization, clinical and financial analyses for the network’s clinicians and administrators. 
• Provide reports that highlight variations in utilization, clinical practice, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
• Perform exploratory data analyses of reports and datasets, e.g., of medical claims and pharmacy data, and offer narrative interpretations and business recommendations or conclusions, where appropriate.
•Work with advanced graphic tools, including dashboards and other visual displays, to provide clear and insightful views of performance.
• Work with users to identify reporting needs, define report specifications, and produce reports that help guide business decisions.
• Employ appropriate analytical study design and identification of decision alternatives through the proper framing of customers’ questions, compilation and cleaning of data, model building, validation, and interpretation of results, all consistent with professional standards.
• Collaborate with others to improve the quality of data and information flows at Brown and Toland.
• Collaborate with Business Intelligence in developing and deploying reporting tools to meet the broad spectrum of analytical needs across our delivery system.
• Research and reconcile data discrepancies occurring among various information systems and reports
Required Experience
• Minimum 1 years of professional healthcare analytics or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to combine multiple data sources to conduct a cohesive analysis with correct interpretation
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills, including ability to present complex technical concepts in a clear, concise manner to audiences with varying levels of technical understanding.
• Requires ability to use MS Office, esp. Excel and Access, Unix, SQL/PL-SQL, SAS with minimal supervision and support
• Be comfortable working with large data set. Inspired to learn other technical skills. Have intellectual curiosity, fast learner, be a self-starter
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills 
• Strong analytics and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
• Experience in analyzing a wide array of data types, including medical and pharmacy claims, clinical process and outcome data, e.g., HEDIS and other performance metrics, and survey data.
• Experience with chronic disease identification, utilization trending, outlier analysis, quality metrics, and tracking of other health performance indicators.
• Experience with advanced data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau.
Required Education
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, informatics, statistics, public health, or related field with coursework in quantitative analysis
