Responsibilities

Finds and develops high-quality and meaningful stories to support the objectives of Brookdale Senior Living. Contributes to the development of the overall communication and associate engagement strategy, by connecting with communities and associates to uncover, artfully craft, and timely deliver effective and meaningful communications both for internal and external audiences. Writes and edits stories to support Brookdale Senior Living’s strategic goals, associate engagement, mission and culture.

  • Creates effective communications to fully engage associates around business strategies and goals, mission, and culture.
  • Researches, writes, edits and proofreads various forms of content for internal and external use.
  • Creates and develops written, digital, and video content to promote and support the organization.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to associates in support of communication department functions.
  • Works with the PR team to complement the targeted local PR efforts by finding and producing associate and resident related stories in those local communities.
  • Supports the Communications team in identifying opportunities to improve associate engagement, company performance, cohesion and culture related to assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Assists with company events, activities, and projects.
  • Participates in training, in services and attends meetings.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and ExperienceBachelors of Communications or related degree required, and a minimum of 1 year of communications- related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special RequirementsNone.

    Management/Decision MakingMakes standard and routine decisions with independent judgment. Applies existing guidelines and procedures where applicable and recommends new processes or vehicles as needed to meet the needs of projects.

    Knowledge and Skills

    A working knowledge of a skill or discipline that requires basic analytic ability. Excellent customer service attitude and ability. Commitment to company culture and mission. Effective communications skills, including ability to speak and work with many customers, content owners and departments. Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail and good follow through under tight deadlines. Strong interest in writing and communicating information to internal and external audiences. Excellent computer skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Word (including tables), Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Strong editing, grammar, spelling, formatting, writing, detail review of documents. Ability to respond appropriately to confidential and sensitive issues.
