Rec Center Youth Program Coordinator

Jubilee's current work centers in the Tierra Vida community and Kurtzman Park neighborhood of Pasco.

The youth coordinator is directly responsible for the spiritual, emotional, physical, and academic development of youth (grades 7-12) enrolled in the youth program at Tierra Vida. This position is a three- fold approach to programming in the Rec Center. It is the connecting arm for the rec center and community activities, as much as it is a position that creates a welcoming and engaging environment that youth gravitate to, while creating opportunities for leadership within the community, and assist with rec center management. This position reports to the Community Relations Manager and primarily works Monday-Friday from 10-7pm and when needed on weekends.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Promote organization's spiritual wellbeing indicators (life enhancing education, engaged citizens, healthy lifestyles, and sufficient economies) as appropriate in youth activities
• Build one-on-one and small group relationships with youth and their families to nurture strengths and promote social and emotional growth
• Identify youth needs, develop program, and find resources for same
• Facilitates the design and implementation of youth team community projects
• Create monthly and weekly calendar of activities that are in keeping with program goals, objectives, and indicators in the categories of academic support, leadership, and relationship building
• Plan and execute youth development activities that are welcoming and engaging
• Implement a point reward system
• Plan field trips and special events for the youth program according to measurable indicators outlined, track spending and complete event evaluations
• Responsible for recruitment and promotion of youth activities through outreaching campaigns
• Communicate with parents on a weekly basis or when necessary, regarding positive changes/behaviors
• Tracks and document program sessions with sign in sheets, detailed notes, youth stories, photos, and any other means deemed appropriate
• Maintains and expands effective collaborative relationships with schools and local partners
• Maintain a positive work environment and sets an example of conduct and professionalism for youth, staff, and community members
• Implement trauma informed care approach to interactions within all community spectrums
• Collaborates with Rec Center Coordinator for support in strategic and partnership development
• Participate on weekly/bi-weekly BFT meetings
• Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of community events
• Able to provide coverage to Rec Center Coordinator role as needed
• Assist individuals inquiring rentals, activities, or other occurring events
• Re-direct calls or inquiries to appropriate colleagues
• Promote a neat, welcoming, and friendly appearance to all visitors
• Covering closing facility after events or rentals
• Perform other office duties as assigned

Qualification

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferably
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media networks
• 2 years of experience working and running youth programs (13-18 years)
• Ability to relate to young people and keep professional distance is a must
• A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
• Must be grounded and organized, yet flexible and open to the changing demands of the organization
• Must be able to work afternoons, evenings, and some weekends
• Energetic, creative, self-initiative, responsible and reliable
• Experience in customer service/sales

Operation Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-7pm (Weekends when needed)

Pay: 42k-45k

Pay: Rate- Bi-weekly
