Fully remote position in the United States

BriteCore is seeking a highly motivated Principal Software Engineer to join our Engineering team to help enhance our Insurance SaaS Platform.

The successful candidate will have a strong product engineering background and proficiency in Python and Javascript. You enjoy fast-paced environments where you can solve difficult problems using current technologies and tools. You collaborate well with other team members when brainstorming, designing, and implementing new solutions. You are a hands-on technical resource who will be responsible for issues related to product features, performance, speed, scale, security, and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Join a passionate, agile development team to design and build applications that scale and support our platform.
• Architect and build in Python, Django, JavaScript, JQuery, ViewJS
• Participate in an Agile environment using Scrum software development practices, automated unit testing, continuous integration, code reviews, version control systems and automated build processes
• Raise issues proactively that may impact delivery commitments
• Fix production issues and maintain the code as needed
• Address system issues as they relate to performance, scalability, and reliability
• Provide direction and supervision across multiple teams to influence architectural decisions and technology selection
• Work cooperatively with product management to create features that satisfy user needs with simplicity, consistency, and robustness
• Maintain and evolve the software architecture for current and future needs
• Stay current with the latest development best practices and share your findings with the team

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S or M.S. in Computer Science or similar field of study
• 8 years of overall software product development and or Cloud/SaaS/Enterprise software engineering experience
• 5 years of experience building large-scale enterprise applications

Required Skills

• Experience Architecting and Scaling API 
• Experience building applications and API with Python
• Experience with Django or another popular python framework
• Experience developing in frontend frameworks (React, VueJS)
• Knowledge of SQL or similar query language
• Agile and Test-driven development methodologies
• Strong attention to detail
• Natural aptitude for both Leading and learning from others in a collaborative team environment
• Recognizes and acts on inconsistencies in data or results and escalates unusual problems
• Identifies issues beyond the stated situation

Desired Skills

• Experience working with Docker
• Experience working with AWS: EC2, API Gateway, Lambda Functions, etc
• Experience in the Insurance industry
• Good knowledge of Database design and SQL performance
• Knowledge of different testing techniques and approaches
