Brilla Public Charter Schools is a network of elementary and middle schools that currently serve nearly 1,800 students from Mott Haven, University Heights, and surrounding neighborhoods in the Bronx. We plan to grow our network from our five current campuses to ten over the next decade, reaching nearly 4,000 students in the Bronx and a new geography: Paterson, New Jersey. Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Student Recruitment Manager is to ensure that Brilla meets student application and enrollment targets in addition to cultivating positive relationships with the community we serve. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced candidate to apply successful strategies in student recruitment and student outreach, as part of a mission-driven organization dedicated to academic excellence and support. The Student Recruitment Manager will be a significant contributor to the launch of the first Brilla school in New Jersey. The successful candidate will be a strong administrator with a proven track record of successfully meeting deadlines and deliverables, as well as the ability to work independently and expediently on project-based initiatives. They will have the drive and energy to thrive in a results-focused, no excuses, entrepreneurial environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in student recruitment, working under tight deadlines, and be able to navigate systems and organizations of scale and complexity without sacrificing thoroughness and detail. The Student Recruitment Manager will report to the Director of Operations and collaborate with the School Leader and other dedicated community partners, all focused on making a positive impact on the educational opportunities for underserved children through successful enrollment into Brilla New Jersey.

Core Competencies & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Operations and School Leader to design and execute purposeful and effective engagement and outreach plans to meet or exceed application goals – 225 students in Year 1 (75 Kindergarten, 75 1st Grade, 75 5th Grade)
  • Lead engaging and informative tours, open houses, information sessions, presentations to various stakeholders, and events that maximize applicant enthusiasm
  • Attend recruitment fairs and community events; prepare materials/staffing as needed
  • Create promotional materials to attract new families; work with the Director of Operations and School Leader to help develop a strategic plan for marketing, including sourcing advertisement options, as needed
  • Create, update, and deliver robust presentations to prospective families
  • Assist in coordinating and running the new student lottery in compliance with State law
  • Project Manager the school’s enrollment process in its entirety: Notify families we received their application with a personal email, or letter, and/or phone call; conduct regular and ongoing outreach to applicants and families; extend seat offers to parents once the lottery (if needed) is complete and actively manage the waitlist
  • Assist in providing the vision and strategic direction for student recruitment management, marketing, and communication with the Director of Operations
  • Design, implement and monitor the student recruitment plan, including student recruitment targets, student recruitment objectives, tactics, and strategies 
  • Develop strategic community partnerships with community leaders in addition to political leaders, as needed, to build mission-driven awareness
  • Process and implement data management projects as needed
  • Maintain and verify application data in SchoolMint including tracking applications against goals
  • Actively engage families during early summer months, per plans created in coordination with the School Leader and Director of Operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years working experience in a customer service or admissions field
  • Fluency in Spanish required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with admissions software or database ideal
