Delivering the best experience to as many users as possible. That’s what the Product Design team is all about. We use our deep understanding of client needs to enrich the lives of our users all over the world. 

We are looking for an experienced Director of Product Design to reimagine the way clients interact with and experience Brightly products. You will develop the design strategy for the Brightly product portfolio and will drive the execution of the strategy to drive client and business outcomes. You will coach, mentor and lead a team of designers and serve as the ultimate champion for the voice of the user. 

What you’ll be doing 

• Directly manage a manager and multiple senior product designers, supporting them as they drive their personal and professional growth. The overall team is 7 designers and growing. 
• Define and drive a design strategy to bring our products together into a consistent and holistic experience for our clients 
• Influence and interpret the product vision and drive strategic execution of design through the team 
• Drive alignment across Product and Engineering to execute on the defined design strategy 
• Develop and own a compelling design roadmap and ability to clearly communicate the expected outcomes/value to the organization 
• Understand the technology behind the products to have meaningful conversations with Engineers and to assist them in negotiating feasibility as needed 
• Create and actively champion the use of reusable visual and interaction design patterns that can translate easily between multiple products in our portfolio 
• Challenge the status quo on creativity and quality of design work across the team 
• Actively participates in key initiatives to help shape and guide solutions 
• Ensure designers have a deep understanding of user and market needs and that their design solutions fit into a consistent client experience 
• Champion UX and Design by initiating and leading educational efforts outside of the core deliverables of the job 
• Proactively identifies usability problems and provides designs that work for multiple markets and products 
• Willing to be hands-on, partnering closely with designers, product managers and/or engineering teams

Requirements

 What you need

• Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent practical experience 
• 7-10 years of experience designing complex enterprise products on a SaaS platform, marketplace, or other software-led product in an agile B2B environment 
• 5 years leading and mentoring a growing team of product designers 
• Portfolio of product design work with evidence of impact at scale 
• Demonstrated success bringing together adjacent, but disparate products into a holistic product portfolio (e.g. branding alignment, consistent UX and patterns, common workflows, etc.) 
• Experience defining, building and successfully executing on a design strategy 
• Shipped many products and understand what it takes to build awesome product experiences 
• Keen eye for detail and can give effective direction and feedback to designers on the team 
• Proven experience building and promoting the product design function at an organization 
• Experience working with qualitative and quantitative user research methods 
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
• Expert in designing Web applications and Mobile apps 
• Expert in using design tools like Adobe XD and Sketch and knows when to use these tools as well as the right fidelity of the designs for the audience 

Nice to have 

• Master’s degree in Architecture or Fine Arts a plus
• Experience with distributed, global teams a plus
