IT Systems Specialist Intern

Reports To: IT Operations Manager

Location: New York, New York

Paid Internship: $17/hr

The Role 

Bright Power seeks an experienced systems specialist to join Bright Power's Technology team. This role will assist the IT Operations Manager and partner service providers in supporting day-to-day technology operations and improvements across our growing technology stack.

The ideal candidate possesses proven experience in successfully implementing, integrating, and administering Cloud SaaS apps, IT on-premises servers and systems, AWS infrastructure, and end-user computing devices (Including Windows 10, macOS, iOS, and Android devices).

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Respond to inquiries and assist in troubleshooting and resolving technology challenges
  • Collaborate with managed service provider partners to resolve technical issues related to network interruptions, cloud applications, and end-user computing devices
  • Effectively monitor, maintain, and control IT servers and infrastructure, including but not limited to office network technology (routers, firewalls, internet circuits, switches, and access points)
  • Implement and administer SaaS-based and on-premises applications and systems
  • Support management in maintaining and improving the internal IT Service Management (ITSM) systems
  • Organize and construct instructional guides for computing hardware, and software
  • Working on an Agile project and operations team, participating in regular standup meetings, retrospectives, sprint reviews, and other scheduled project activities
  • Support management in improving IT systems processes and procedures
  • Regularly communicating with end-users through support casework
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills/Qualifications 

  • Education: Degree, or pursuing a degree, in IT, Software, Business Intelligence, or other relevant academic programs
  • Proven experience as an IT specialist 
  • Technically proficient in computer and mobile operating system support, including Windows 10, macOS, iOS, Android
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and multitask
  • Critical thinking and problems solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record in working as part of a team to maintain and improve internal systems

Preferred Qualifications 

  • General knowledge of building systems and construction best practices
  • General understanding of energy efficiency, storage, and generation technologies
  • Advanced expertise in the combination of Windows Server administration, Network Administration, and Cloud SaaS Apps Administration.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision and hearing abilities may be required by this job, which include close vision and ability to adjust focus based on the task and surrounding activity. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The ability for the use of tools (such as powered hand tools and other types of tools, including but not limited to combustion appliances, machinery and motors that have moving parts, belts, pulleys, elevators, motors, pumps and/or fans) may be required. Equipment for working at height (such as ladders, mechanical lifts, etc.) may be required to be used.
