Our Culture

Bridgewater’s unique success is the direct result of our unique way of being. We want an idea meritocracy in which meaningful work and meaningful relationships are pursued through radical truth and radical transparency. We require people to be extremely open, air disagreements, test each other’s logic, and view discovering mistakes and weaknesses as a good thing that leads to improvement and innovation. It is by continually striving together for the highest levels of truth and excellence that we create meaningful work and meaningful relationships. Within this culture, Diversity and Inclusion is a top priority because it is essential to finding the best talent in the world, enabling our idea meritocracy, and creating an environment where all types of people can thrive. We have a full-time team as well as affinity networks that work on these issues - If you would like to learn more, please let your Bridgewater recruiter know.

About the Research Department

Our mission is to understand how the world works — building and compounding our understanding of the timeless cause-and-effect relationships that move global economies and markets. With curiosity, cutting-edge technology, and deep sets of data, we build frameworks and analytical models that explain everything from long-term debt cycles to currency devaluations; and we use that compounded understanding to create the investment strategies that drive Bridgewater.

About the Team

The Project Manager role is part of the Investment Engineering team. Their mission is to build the core pieces of modeled data which underlie Bridgewater’s investment understanding and trading strategies.

About Your Role
As an Investment Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving the delivery of the investment models we use to trade markets. With hundreds of models in production, Investment Engineering has the challenge of both building new models and maintaining our existing base models. You will be responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle: planning, work milestones, resourcing, and delivery. Our projects involve investors, engineers, operators, and technologists all working in concert to evolve our systematic investment process. You will be responsible for operating effectively across Bridgewater to ensure projects run well. The projects involve technical, analytical, and investment complexity; you should both enjoy these kinds of problems and work well with investors and engineers alike. The projects you will manage are highly impactful and, as such, have many interested parties. You will be expected to synthesize and present to senior managers on projects.

You will drive the following responsibilities:

  • Understand Bridgewater’s broad investment objectives, strategies, clients, the products and markets we trade, and the investment lifecycle across multiple departments
  • Drive and own the planning and execution of both day-to-day and large-scale engineering focused projects
  • Provide visibility on business deliverable progress / synthesis / key risks to stakeholders through performance indicators and metrics

You will be a click for the role if you:

  • Have an interest and background in financial markets, instruments, and capital markets
  • Can drive complex, high-value projects while managing multiple partners, risks and dependencies
  • Anticipate problems and complications, and formulate solutions to unblock the progress of the project
  • Are organized, reliable, and can visualize well
  • Are comfortable confronting ambiguous problems and working collaboratively to identify solutions
  • Hold a high degree of personal responsibility and ownership
  • Are able to consistently step back and improve your way of operating
  • Weigh what they know and understand in determining confidence. Open to other perspectives than your own, without accepting illogical/irrational ones.
  • Are able to reflect objectively on one's own behavior; step above oneself and see things from a higher level with a good understanding of their strengths/weaknesses in a particular situation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in financial services consulting, strategy or management consulting or similar role within a financial institution
  • Familiarity with financial markets and financial instruments.
  • Experience with program/project management including framing and structuring ambiguous problems, requirement gathering and solutioning.
  • Grasp of market and industry trends

Physical Requirements
This role requires individuals to work at our offices in Westport, CT at a minimum of two days (and some cases three) per week with the option to work offsite on other days.
