JOB DESCRIPTION
TheRecoverySupportSpecialistutilizeshisorherownlivedexperiencetoprovidesupport, promoterecovery,andreducestigma.ThisisasalariedexemptemployeeofBRIALakePark Center, Waukegan,Illinois.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Thisjobdescriptionisnotintendedtobeall-inclusive.Employeeswillalsoperformother reasonablyrelateddutiesasassignedbyimmediatesupervisor.
Enhance Individual Recovery and Resiliency:
•Assistsconsumersinidentifyingstrengths,recoveryandwellnessgoals,andbarriers; anddeterminingrecoveryandwellnessinterventionsbasedonhisorherlifegoals.
•Recognizesandreportprogressconsumersmaketowardmeetingobjectives.
•Utilizesspecificinterventionsnecessarytosupportconsumersinmeetingtheirrecovery and wellnessgoals.
Utilize Specific Training to Develop Skills and Curriculum:
•Leads and teaches consumers tofacilitate Recovery Dialogues.
•SupportsconsumersincreatingaWellnessRecoveryActionPlan(WRAP)orLakePark Center’s Peer-to-Peerplan
•Assistsconsumersgoingthroughcrisisbydevelopinganappropriateplanofactionthat will ensure the safety and comfort of thoseinvolved.
•Utilizesandteachestechniquesforproblemsolving,identifyingandcombatingnegative self-talk,identifyingandovercomingfearsinbothone-on-oneandgroupsettings.
•Promotes consumers’ use of self-directed recoverytools.
•Supportconsumersinbuildingsocialskillsinthecommunitythatwillenhancejob acquisition andtenure.
•WorkswithLakeParkCenter,Waukegan,Illinoisstaffinidentifyingprogram environments that are conducive torecovery.
Apply Unique Recovery Experience:
•Shares personal story of recovery withindividuals.
•Modelseffectivecopingtechniques,self-helpstrategies,andself-care.
Inform Consumers of Community Information Related to Recovery:
•Provides and advocates for effective recovery-basedservices.
•Continuestodevelopandsharerecovery-orientedmaterialwithotherRSSs.
•Attendsrelevantseminars,meetings,andin-servicetrainingwheneverpossibleand apply this information to current RSStechniques.
•Informs consumers about community and natural support and how toutilize these in the recoveryprocess.
•Supportsconsumersindevelopingempowermentskillsthroughself-advocacyto combatstigma.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
•ObtainedorseekingCertifiedRecoverySupportSpecialistlicensurevalidinIllinois.
•ABachelor’sdegreeinalliedhealthprofessionispreferredbutnotrequired.
•TrainingintheIllinoisCertifiedRecoverySupportProfessionalPerformanceDomains:
•Advocacy,ProfessionalResponsibility,Mentoring,andRecoverySupport.
•A work history inmental health service delivery is desirable.
•Experience working with adults ispreferred.
•Actswithinethicalstandardsanddemonstrateshealthyboundaries.
•Demonstrated written and oral communicationskills.
•IntermediatelevelofskillsinuseofMicrosoftOfficecomponentsofWork,PowerPoint andExcel.
•Demonstratedskillsinareasofcustomerserviceandteamleadership.
•Abilitytodefineproblems,collectdata,establishfacts,anddrawvalidconclusions.
