Overview

Tax Manager is responsible for the research, monitor and application of State and Federal tax laws throughout the company.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, research, and prepare for upcoming changes to State/Federal tax law.
• Manage relationship with external auditor/consultants, prepare or review documentation (federal/state returns), answer questions, provide additional support as needed, etc.
• Coordinate with external tax consultants and internal stakeholders to research and implement newly proposed tax strategies and ensure maintenance of existing strategies and workstreams.
• Manage process for unclaimed property ensuring standard process across the company and follow up as appropriate.
• Manage US Census requests.
• Annual calculation of LIFO and UNICAP.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information or any other tasks assigned.
• Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and/or equivalent training and work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis; specifically in federal and/or state tax preparation experience
• Knowledge and awareness of US Federal income tax rules; Knowledge of and experience with ASC740 accounting for income tax
• Proficient PC skills using MS Office and advanced knowledge of Excel
• Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
• Analytic and Reporting skills
• Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment
• Discretion in dealing with confidential material

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience at big 4 accounting firm
• CPA or MS Tax highly preferred
• Knowledge and experience with LIFO and UNICAP
• SAP experience

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone
